Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |
Abstract | The abstract provides a clear and brief statement of the content of the resource. | Mollusc presence records from the Irish Sea area. |
Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | The work of the Conchological Society's marine marine census was brought together and published in 1982 (ed., Seaward) as the Sea area atlas of the marine molluscs of Britain and Ireland, it was updated and extended as the Distribution of the marine molluscs of north west Europe in 1990 (ed., Seaward). Additions and amendments to the Distribution of the marine molluscs of north west Europe (ed., Seaward) was published in 1993. It updated the previous volume to the Conchological Society's new marine census datum of January 1991. The opportunity was also taken to add earlier records notified or confirmed too late for inclusion in Seaward (1990). Any nomenclature change was also updated. Within the atlas the waters around Britain and Ireland, and later north west Europe (including from Bergen to Brest and into the Atlantic to the Rockall Trough) are divided up into sea areas. Sea areas included in the Irish Sea Pilot are: S21 - (part of) Bristol Channel. S22 - Cardigan Bay. S23 - Anglesey. S24 - Liverpool Bay. S25 - Solway. S26 - Isle of Man. S27 - Dublin. S28 - Belfast. S29 - (part of) Clyde and Argyll. S29a - (part of) Antrim. S39 - (part of) Nymphe Bay. >Records of molluscs within the sea areas are listed as: Live records, post 1950. Live records, pre 1951. Shell only, any date. Doris sticta is listed in the atlas as Doris maculata. Patella ulyssiponesis aspersa appears in the atlas as Patella aspersa. |
