Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 2260 |
Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | GIS Shapefile of Bathymetry Contours (1 metre intervals) |
File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 0b66b1edfdc8905c5f88bf89addc9a99 |
Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | Gardline_9372 |
Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | dataset |
Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2012-11-20 |
End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2013-02-21 |
Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | inapplicable |
Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | continual |
Abstract | The abstract provides a clear and brief statement of the content of the resource. | Processed from raw multibeam data, Gardline created 1 metre bathymetric contours as a shapefile for use on desktop GIS. For more information on the datasets, please refer to the Gardline report. |
Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | For all surveys, after navigation was applied to the data, they were processed and interpreted using Geosoft Oasis Montaj. Quality Control checks were carried out on the data, before filters were applied to fit a background to the data set. When this is subtracted from the original magnetometer data, the residual or magnetic anomaly is left. This residual is gridded using the minimum curvature gridding method, and then the derivative grids are calculated to define the final Analytic Signal (AS) grid. This represents the gradient of an anomaly in nT/m. Oasis Montaj automatically picks targets from the AS grid, measuring the anomaly size by calculating the distance from the peak of an anomaly to its first inflection point. Magnetometer targets were reviewed in conjunction with the bathymetry and sidescan sonar data in order to identify any potential hazards at the seabed such as wrecks, boulders, debris, UXO and infrastructures. All anomalies were tabulated with location and anomaly amplitudes listed. These were subsequently given identification numbers and plotted on the seabed features chart and checked against sonar and swathe datasets. |
