Abstract | The abstract provides a clear and brief statement of the content of the resource. | Benthic species presence absence data from survey benthic biological resources in the vicinity of Licence Application Areas 458 and 464 (West Bassurelle) of marine aggregate licence application area. |
Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Survey undertaken 30km south of Beachy Head in 30-50m of water during the period 27 August 1999 - 4 September 1999. Survey covered 141 km2 with 100 benthic sampling sites arranged to cover the deposits within the Licence Application Areas and for a distance of 18 km in each direction along the potential zone of dispersion on the flood and ebb tides. Surveys were conducted using a Hamon grab of 0.2m2. Macrofauna >1mm was identified. Depth of sample, deposit composition and volume in litres were all recorded. Sediments ranged from sand, shells and gravel to shelly sand. Six epibenthic trawls were also undertaken and fish species recorded. |
