Metadata: Across Wales Non-Native Species Survey
Abstract:
Ongoing rapid assessments for presence/absence of marine Invasive Non-Native Species (INNS) in Welsh marinas. A sub-section of probable invasive marine species was determined using a mixture of Welsh high-priority species and species previously found by the Marine Aliens 2 group.
Data holder:

Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Initial surveys in 2011 were carried out by the Countryside Council for Wales, with subsequent work to be carried out by The School of Ocean Sciences, Bangor University under a MoA with CCW. Assessments were conducted by visual inspection of the entire marina and associated structures from the surface followed by snorkel surveys where non-natives were observed or where native biota composition suggested that marina habitat was amenable to non-native colonisation. |
