Metadata: 2001-2002 English Nature (EN) Flamborough Head, sublittoral monitoring
Abstract:
Report following a sublittoral monitoring survey of Flamborough Head. The purpose of the survey was to enable the assessment of the Flamborough cSAC's condition compared with the targets for the features present. The project also aimed to establish a methodology that was both repeatable and able to produce a robust data set that would enable comparions with other data sets to be made. The data gathered was to act as a baseline for future comparisons.

Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. The survey included both diving fieldwork and the use of remote video. The video was used for the biotope assessment, based on visible species and the seabed type. Quantitative monitoring was sampled using quadrats positioned randomly along a transect. The dive derived quadrat data was later used to help identify and classify the biotopes. Additional Phase 2 semi-quantitative surveys were conducted to provide broader contextual description. Five algal species were further investigated at sites where Phase 2 surveying was being carried out. Presence and semi-quantitative abundance of trhe five species was recorded. The report looks at the results from the video survey adn the diving survey seperately. The discussion makes comparisons between the data gathered and historical data and comments on the methods used. The conclusion addresses the project objectives (if they've been met) and monitoring targets. MESH number: GB000508 If any sensitive species or biotope records are present within this dataset, they will have been removed. If you wish to request access to sensitive species records, please contact the metadata contact. The UK Sensitive Species list has been agreed by UK statutory bodies and relevant experts. It can be viewed here https://docs.nbnatlas.org/sensitive-species-list/. Please note sensitive species lists can vary across the UK. |
