Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 3741 |
Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 1977 Solent the public oyster fishery survey |
File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 6f58a972cadc08593f1709096910c27e |
Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | MRMLN00100000113 |
Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | dataset |
Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 1977-01-01 |
End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 1977-12-31 |
Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | inapplicable |
Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |
Abstract | The abstract provides a clear and brief statement of the content of the resource. | Ostrea edulis records from the public oyster fishery in the Solent survey. |
Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Since 1972 assessments of stocks of oysters on the more important grounds of the Solent oyster fishery have been made by staff from the fisheries Laboratory, Burnham-on-Crouch and reports on the state of the stocks have been published annually. In September 1977 a survey by dredging was carried out on all known oyster grounds in the Solent. The survey was carried out by towing a baird dredge with a blade 1m wide for approximately 90m. On hard ground a diving plate was used on the dredge to ensure that it stayed in firm contact with the sea bed; on softer ground the diving plate was removed as to prevent the dredge from cutting too deeply into the bottom material and filling up quickly with the soft sediments. |
