Metadata: Individual based data on Bottlenose dolphins in the Moray Firth Special Area of Conservation
Abstract:
The Moray Firth Special Area of Conservation (SAC) was designated in 2005 under the European Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC) for bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus). This SAC extends from the inner firths to Helmsdale on the north coast and Lossiemouth on the south coast, and includes areas that are regularly used by the population of bottlenose dolphins occurring along the east coast of Scotland. Since 1989, this population of bottlenose dolphins has been the focus of an intensive research programme, carried out by the University of Aberdeen in collaboration with the Sea Mammal Research Unit at the University of St Andrews. This dataset includes photo-identification and GIS data from the beginning of this research programme, focussing on May to September.

Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 4049 |
Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | Individual based data on Bottlenose dolphins in the Moray Firth Special Area of Conservation |
File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 85cbc7e5ca44f9586fdf11667b88794b |
Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | AULFS_BND_PHOTOID |
Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | dataset |
Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 1989-07-02 |
End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2014-11-19 |
Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | inapplicable |
Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | asNeeded |
