Metadata: 2007 CEFAS, Cape Bank. Offshore special area of conservation
Abstract:
This report provides detailed information about the Lands End and Cape Bank site and evaluates its interest features according to the Habitats Directive selection criteria and guiding principles. This assessment has been made following a thorough analysis of existing information combined with newly acquired field survey data. The dataset includes multiple forms of biotope analysis, species lists and abundance, digital stills of habitats, Multibeam bathymetry, GIS mapping showing biodiversity and abundance of various species and acoustic surveys.

Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 4466 |
Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2007 CEFAS, Cape Bank. Offshore special area of conservation |
File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 9efbdf7b1ecb55d1d6876897a76f219a |
Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | NATENG000229B |
Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | dataset |
Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2007-08-13 |
End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2007-08-24 |
Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | inapplicable |
Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |

Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | This report reviews previous work done at Lands End and Cape Bank in order to evaluate its importance as a Marine Special Area of Conservation, as part of the Habitats Directive. In April 2007 a literature review was conducted to identify and assess the available physical and biological data for the areas of Cape Bank. All the information gathered from the literature review was stored in a metadata table developed under the Mapping European Seabed Habitats (MESH) programme. More recent data was gathered for this dataset using acoustic surveys. A total of 180km of acoustic survey lines (sidescan sonar and multibeam bathymetry) were run at the Lizard Point site. Digital video and stills data were collected at 18 sites and a single scallop dredge site was also sampled Formerly known as "2008 CEFAS, Cape Bank. Offshore special area of conservation" |
