Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 5447 |
Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 1981 Millport Echinus esculentus survey |
File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | e182b1098ac2769d7d716dc739fa05ee |
Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | MRMLN00200000025 |
Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | dataset |
Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 1981-06-01 |
End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 1981-09-30 |
Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | inapplicable |
Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |
Abstract | The abstract provides a clear and brief statement of the content of the resource. | Echinus esculentus presence record from information collected by volunteer surveyors from sites around Millport between June and September 1981 |
Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Sites around Millport were sampled for Echinus esculentus during June - September 1981. Volunteer divers sampled ten individuals from sites of various depths and with differing exposure to wave action. Where possible a sample was taken within the kelp zone and another below it. The height and diameter of each specimen was measured and a single gonad was preserved for the project team. The total body volume of each individual was calculated using the formula diam2 x ht. The volume of the single gonad was obtained by displacement, then multiplied by 5, to give the total gonad volume. Gonadial indices were then calculated for each individual No Latitude/longitude or grid references are included in the paper so a location in Millport Bay, derived from a map, has been used. |
Additional information | This describes relevant references to the data e.g. reports, articles, websites plus other useful information not captured elsewhere. | Nichols, Bishop, Sime (1983) The effect of depth and exposure on gonad production in the sea urchin Echinus esculentus (Echinodermata: Echiodermata) from sites around the British Isles. |
