Underwater TV and trawl survey to estimate Nephrops burrow distribution and abundance, to collect sediment samples and to sample Nephrops for size composition analysis from Nephrops Functional Units 8 (Firth of Forth) and 9 (Moray Firth). Also included comparison tows between the sledge and drop frame. See cruise report for details.

All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | FishDAC - Nephrops Underwater TV Survey (Scotland) - 2014 - Functional Units 8, 9 |
File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | Marine_Scotland_FishDAC_1485 |
Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | Marine_Scotland_FishDAC_1485 |

Abstract | The abstract provides a clear and brief statement of the content of the resource. |
Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Underwater TV footage is taken at specified stations within Functional Units. The underwater camera is monted on a towed sledge and tow duration is 10 minutes. Records of Nephrops burrows, Nephrops and other benthic fauna is recorded onto DVD for analysis and review. The depth and distance travelled by the sledge as well as the camera height is recorded. Sediment samples are taken were practicable using a mini van Veen grab mounted on the sledge. Where necessary, Day Grab sediment samples are taken instead. Trawl caught Nephrops are sampled for length composition and maturity and morphometric characteristics. |
