NationalThe UK IACMST has established the GOOS Action Group, which is charged inter alia with the specific task of co-ordinating UK activities related to GOOS. The Action Group pursues a programme of work that is reviewed and approved annually by IACMST. This programme is funded by contributions from the Action Group's member organisations. In addition there are a range of administrative tasks related to managing the UK's involvement in GOOS and ensuring the flow of information on related topics both internationally and between government departments; these are dealt with by a part-time co-ordinator with assistance from the membership and IACMST secretariat. InternationalThe UK contributes towards the cost of running the GOOS Office in Paris and, through National Oceanographic Centre (NOC), funded the EuroGOOS office in Southampton, England until it became self-financing through contributions from its participants. The UK is one of those participant funders. In addition the UK contributes towards the IOCs Argo co-ordinator and has established a Southern Ocean Argo Data Centre in the UK. The UK contributes to the funding of the IOC/WMO Data Buoy Co-operation Panel (DBCP) the vice Chair of which is a staff member of SAMS. The UK also provides one of the two co-Chairs of the ICES/IOC Steering Group on GOOS.
