Marine Data and Information Partnership (MDIP)

A partnership of public and private sector organisations working to provide harmonised stewardship and access to marine data and information, and so facilitate improved management of the seas around the UK. MDIP is part of OceanNET and is operated by the Inter-Agency Committee on Marine Science and Technology (IACMST)

  • Establish a set of requirements for functions and capabilities for MDIP DACs.
  • Identify candidate DACs and gain agreement/commitment from these DACs to meet these requirements and act as MDIP DACs.
  • Assess coverage provided by the established MDIP DACs, identify gaps and bring in new DACs whilst addressing potential duplication.
  • Document data management and upload standards, as they are applied within DACS.
  • Document DAC data policies (including licensing policies)
