Marine Data and Information Partnership (MDIP)

A partnership of public and private sector organisations working to provide harmonised stewardship and access to marine data and information, and so facilitate improved management of the seas around the UK. MDIP is part of OceanNET and is operated by the Inter-Agency Committee on Marine Science and Technology (IACMST)

MDIP carries out its activities through a project team which meets at roughly three month intervals and to which all partners are invited to send representatives, and through 3 working groups

MDIP has established three working groups to take on specific activities to contribute to the overall objectives of MDIP:

 

MDIP Data Archiving Centre Working Group

The DACs WG will coordinate the activity of identifying and managing data

 

MDIP Interoperability Working Group

The Interoperability WG will consider how to manage the process of bringing the data from these together

 

MDIP Mapping and Applications Working Group

The Mapping and Applications WG will document and test the infrastructure against the requirements of end-use applications and recommend improvements
