These webpages provide access to marine data and information, and outline the work of the Marine Environmental Data Action Group. MEDAG is part of OceanNET and is operated by IACMST

The European Directory of Ocean Observing Systems (EDIOS) may be searched at www.edios.org EDIOS was created as part of a european project 'SeaSearch' to assist EuroGOOS to coordination of european marine monitoring programmes. As part of MEDAG core work, 32 UK marine monitoring programmes are entered into the database. Individual points and line of monitoring, parameters measured and contact details are given for each programme. The Seasearch project has now developed into SeaDataNet and EDIOS is currently being upgraded.

Within the UK there are many drivers such as the UK Marine Monitoring and Assessment Strategy to provide a complete database of marine monitoring. To fullfill these needs MEDAG has undertaken a project 'The UK Directory of Marine Observing Systems (UKDMOS)' to further compile UK marine monitoring programmes within the EDIOS database supplemented with additonal fields specific to the UK. This information will be available in 2007 as a specific UK front end, and is hoped will become available through the Marine Data and Information Partnership in the future. A link to the UK front end will appear here in the near future.
