The Marine Data and Information Partnership (MDIP) is a sister initiative to MEDAG which arose from the recommendations of an IACMST expert group. MEDAG has made, and continues to make, significant advances in specific areas of marine data management and has an international role. It was considered that an overarching framework for data management in the UK was required and MDIP aims to provide that via a system of Data Archive Centres (DACs), interoperability and standards. MEDAG supports and works closely with MDIP to ensure that work is coordinated and resources used efficiently. Previous work MEDAG has provided a base from which MDIP to develop, and in particular the MEDAG coordinator is co-chair of the DACs working group and secetarial support is given to the MDIP Partner meetings. To clarify the work of MEDAG and MDIP a flyer may be downloaded here. If you require any hard copies to distribute please contact enquiries@oceannet.org. Any effort to increase the profile of MDIP and MEDAG is gratefully acknowledged.
